The Ohare International Airport : Chicago - Buffalo
3:00 pm - O'Hare international airport Chicgo
I was at the airport . Realize that due to thunderstoms the flight to buffalo has been cancelled. Me and ashwin( my collegue at HSBC) cribbed about how the people here think that a mere drizzle is a thunderstorm and reminisce(whatever the spelling is) how in india the pilots brave any wheather and land the plane . The lady at the counter ( God i wish i could have strangled her throat when i was in the line ) was really patient with us as we explained we had to leave for buffalo for a meeting and couldnt afford to miss the plane . And wolla! she could get one ticket on the next plane leavign to buffalo at 7:00 pm . That meant i had to travel alone again and wait for 4hrs . So i bid farewell to ashwin and explained to him that i will be alright . P.S : Do not carry heavy luggage to US domestic airports. The trolleys which you get for free at indian airports are paid at the US airport( charge 2$) .Another one of my cribbing for the airport . So there i was standing in a very very long line at O'Hare international airport Chicgo with a racksack which weighs a tonne on my back and a laptop (another tonne in my hand) . By the way , O Hare international airport is the second busiest airport in the US and at a time it was the first .By the time i got to the security check i was completely exhausted. And i thought rather than hanging around at the airport i will just go and wait near the boarding gate .And then i saw a sign "STARBUCKS" with an arrow . There is always room for coffee isnt it . So as office was paying for my trip , I decided to treat myself . 'One big blueberry muffin and a medum coffee please' i told the chinese woman . And i got that. Lets analyse the situation now . I am already loaded witha lot of lucggage and I have volunteered myself to have a treat of coffee and muffin . This means i have to carry it all and find a place to sit. The rest is left to ones imagination ,but just to tell you the end result , i burnt my toungue and dropped the muffin . Keeping my spirits high i thought well lets just go to the boarding gate now . And so i walked towards the boardign gate . And i kept walking ..walking ...walking .. . Ohare is a very big airport. So if you think you can hang around the place and still catch the flight .. you will be in for a surprise. When i reached there i realized that the whole place looked like a refugee camp . There were people everywhere . Some on the chairs and some on the floor. I decided to catch a quick nap and then i saw starbucks again . But yeh .. not the same mistake again . One should not be too greedy .I caught a quick nap and then when i got up i realised my fflight was delayed by 2 hrs . So instead of leaving at 7 i will now leave at 9 pm . Ahaan .. so now my brain started to think if i should cancel my ticket. But then i thought .. what the heck will i do at home anyways . So i waited .. waited .. waited..
Observation : Everybody is carryign a copy o f Harry potters new book .
However, finally the flight schedule said the flight will leave at 8:10 and then i picked up my food from the nearby shop .. Seafood sandwhich with chese tomato and lettuce( Treating myself Cotd.)
Rushed into the plane. It was a struggle getting my back on the deck and well the dinner that i had was messy .. seafood remember .From the window of the plane i saw why they call it a thunderstorm . The most massive cloud group i have ever seen , i saw over lake michigan and it had lightning within it . No wonder they didnt wanna lift off. I wouldnt wanna get trapped in that cloud .
At 11 pm buffalo time i reached buffalo ( weird sentence)
Took a cab ..( was lookign around at the airport to see if i can find an indian and he can give me a lift)
Reached the HYATT . was a bit disappointing ... bu tstill i couldnt help but jump in my hotel room that i am staying at the hyatt. Called dad to tell the same.:) Man i was happy . But now i needed to sleep . Had a meeting the next day . So sweet sombre at the HYATT .
